Matthias Schelling appointed new CEO of Swissgenetics

The Board of Directors of Swissgenetics has appointed Dr Matthias Schelling as the successor to Christoph Böbner, who left Swissgenetics in February.

Matthias Schelling studied agronomy with a specialisation in animal production at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) and for his doctorate at the Institute of Animal Sciences of the ETHZ. After joining the Swiss Red & White Cattle Breeding Association SFZV with responsibility for breeding value estimates, since 2004 he has been the CEO of the SFZV / swissherdbook and was closely involved in the development of the current structures with the common subsidiaries ELVADATA, Suisselab, Qualitas and Linear. Since February 2024 he has also been running Swissgenetics on an interim basis.

Matthias Schelling, 54, lives with his partner and their two children in the Swiss town of Jegenstorf. Ueli Bach, President of Swissgenetics, is convinced that in Matthias Schelling the company has found the appropriate leadership personality for Swissgenetics as it takes on current and future challenges. “In addition to his many years of management experience in the agricultural sector, Matthias Schelling brings the necessary forward-looking approach to further advance the successful story of Swissgenetics together with the employees and the Board of Directors.”

Matthias Schelling will start his new job in July 2024.
